Jason grew up in Southwest Louisiana, The Sportsmans Paradise. His father started taking him hunting and fishing at an early age. Jason grew up duck hunting in the brackish marshes of South West Louisiana and goose hunting in the many rice fields in the South Louisiana rice belt. A gifted saxophone player in high school, duck and goose calling came naturally to him. Jason started guiding commercially in college and continued to do so after finishing graduate school in 1993. He continues to guide part time at a private hunting club and donates several guided hunts every year to various charities on his own private lease. He also enjoys trading hunts with friends in other areas of the Mississippi and Central flyways. He has been a member of the RNT Pro-Staff since 2005 and Avery Outdoors Pro-Staff since 2004.
On a dare at an outdoor show with a borrowed duck call, Jason entered a meat duck calling contest and finished third. The experience was addictive and soon he was entering numerous duck and specklebelly calling contests. Jason has now qualified for the World Championships in Stuttgart three times (2006, 2007, & 2008). In 2007, Jason became the first person to win back-to-back double LA State Championships in both duck and specklebelly goose. He also won the Gueydan Open Specklebelly calling contest in 2006.
Jason resides in Iowa, LA with his wife of 19 years Charisse, and two daughters, Whitney and Camille, ages 10 & 7. He loves reading to his daughters and spending quality time with his family. He also enjoys dove hunting, fresh and saltwater fishing, and working his 9-year-old male HRCH chocolate lab Coco.
