Dennys father and uncle started him in the outdoors at the age of 4. He started chasing squirrels and rabbits with a 410 and a .22. Denny’s father took him on his first deer hunt at the age of 8 and his first turkey hunt at the age of 10 and he was successful on both trips. His love for hunting was obvious when his calling skills landed him a pro-staff position with a company in southern Missouri. This is where he started designing calls and attending sports shows. This didnt happen by accident..... The hunting tradition runs deep in Denny’s family. The legendary Daniel Boone is his 8 times great grandfather and other ancestors of his were market hunters. Denny didn’t get started hunting waterfowl until the age of 14. His hometown is between the Missouri and the Mississippi River systems. Once Denny realized the waterfowl hotspot he was in, a whole new world opened up for him, and it has consumed most of his time since. Denny got started with Hunters Specialties in 1998 when he met Alex Rutledge at a turkey calling contest and he joined the turkey call team. He became involved in video production at the age of 20 when he went to work full time for a national hunting and fishing T.V. show that was based out of St. Louis, MO. Denny also started pro-staffing for Foiles Migrators on the waterfowl side of things. Denny met people from all over the country and started guiding waterfowl and turkey hunts for various outfitters in eight different states, but it didnt stop there. He started doing calling tips on several differnt T.V. shows and started getting job offers in the industry. He started filming deer, turkey and waterfowl hunts for Hunter's Specialties in 2002, and went to work for them full time in 2006 heading up their waterfowl department. Where he even got to grace the cover of the Take Em 9 DVD. Now he works full time for Tanglefree Waterfowl Products, heading up several different divisions of this company and has his own line of duck and goose calls through Tanglefree. During the fall Denny’s full attention is dedicated to waterfowl. Being located within 40 miles of several state and national refuges he has been able to study the habits of ducks and geese, which has helped him become a successful waterfowl hunter, but he has been known to stick an arrow in a big buck or two once they start ruttin. Denny has over 10 deer that would qualify for the P&Y record book. Once spring gets here Denny is chasing longbeards with clients or videoing somewhere in the mid-west.
